"Once upon a time, there lived a mighty King. His beautiful pale Princess was the jewel of his crown and he could see no wrong in her.
The Princess dabbled in dark arts and consorted with demons. She traded her blood for immortal life and worked wicked magicks through the nights, and slept hidden in her tower through the days. She would chose healthy young servants to wait on her, and these would all sicken and die, until all dreaded to be in her service. But none questioned, because the King could see no wrong in his daughter."
THE VAMPIRE & THE SEVENTH DAUGHTER
A Fable by Larry Thompson
Lino blocks by Larry Thompson
This gothic tale of blood lust tells the story of a contest of wits between a sorcerous vampire and a clever, young slayer.
The small book is hand printed with cold type, using our house font, Italian Oldstyle, for the text and the blackface type, Cloister Black, for the cover, title page and opening lines of the story. It is illustrated with four linoleum cut illustrations, complete with an appropriately gory drop cap 'O' for the "Once upon a time..." opening. It has been printed in a limited edition of 75 on Arches Text Wove paper from France, with black Mohawk Ultrafine for covers. Cover label hand painted by Holly Dean. Every book is protected from vampires with a tiny cross bound into the front cover.
